  • New to the Forum and hoping for some advice on my 1996 Fender Strat

Hi Everyone

I joined the forum hoping to get a honest opinion on my 1996 Fender Jap Strat 50th anniversary edition.
Its a cherry red with a maple neck, the serial no V006915.
I might possibly be looking at selling it. My father bought it for me in 1997 and its been lying in the bag for the past 10 years. Any advice would be much appreciated ? Its the first one that came out with the "aged" look tone & volume knobs and pick ups.

As an expert, I will make the first offer, of R5.

You're sure to get many opinions! INcluding, why not keep it and play it? ?

Ah! The famous "exploding" Strat with spontaneously combusting pickups.

I'll remove it from your house and take it somewhere where it poses no threat. Because you're a forum member I won't charge (if you're in Jo'burg, otherwise I'll only ask for petrol money). In the meantime you want to tip toe every time you go past the room that it's stored in, and insist that the whole famdamily and any visitors do the same. They can be pretty unstable.
PS: Welcome. Are you playing some other guitar in the meantime, or are you trying to get rid of the only guitar that you have?
            Welcome to the forum.

                  Welcome to the forum!

Between R5k and R6k would be fair (I think)!

                      :roflmao:

January was obviously good for business.
A whole R3 more than you offered me for the PRS? ?

:yup: I don't mind splashing out on Strats...but I'm more conservative with other types of guitars.
Thanks for all the welcomes and all...
                          Here it is

Oh, you didn't say it was red....

                            While we're bidding, R7.....

Welcome to the forum. Where are you from?
                              ?
                              Only got 1 real reply.
Can no one give me a descent idea ???
                              Come on... Anyone????

We're all a little whimsical today. Don't worry... Alan and the posse will get back to you ?
Very nice electric guitar. Maple neck = added bonus

If I was you... I would hang onto it for as long as possible. The money you will get for this guitar, isn't anywhere near its worth
as an instrument (it sounds cliche, but this is certainly the case with Japanese Stratocasters and certain Japanese guitars.)

If you were too sell it, you would probably be able to get between 6 - 8 K for it.

8K and up, could be possible if it is a JAP strat lover or collector. But they are hard to find in this country.

But if this was my guitar I would not even sell her for 8.

I would pimp her out instead and play on her all day and night.

                                  Lovely instrument
                                    +1 Andrew

Unless there was no chance I'd ever play it again I wouldn't sell it. Very nice instrument indeed....
