Hi All...thought I would share these pics with you. The Day Trippers playing at an "End of the Year " dance in Uitenhage, December 1965. . It was a formal doo, thus the ties etc. From L to R : John(16), Vic (16),(that's me ? Pierre (15), and Jannie(16). The amps in the backline are a Vox AC30, Fender Blackface showman and a Teisco Checkmate 45. Jannie is at an "instrument" which produced electric piano and reed organ sounds. I am strumming a Carlton guitar. These dance halls were normally large venues and 400-500 people would attend. The bottom pic shows us in October 2009, 44 years on....(and I'm still using Vox !) at a rehearsal at Markotter Stellenbosch. L to R: Vic, Pierre, John and Jannie. First time together again in 40 YEARS !

This thread took me back to the early 80's when "us" ouens were in a band of sorts. never got past rehearsing every now and again and then it was a purple haze dope clouded affair. Members have scattered all over the world now , USA, Scotland etc... thinking of setting up something like this for ole times sakes ....cept maybe not the dope cloud.

That's fantastic Pete....you know, rockabilly always goes down very well at gigs. It's as if it's timeless and is appreciated by all generations. ?

So much better than things like sport, or our jobs, which we can't and probably wouldn't want to do for many many years. It's the music that endures and stands the test of time.

You're right Riaan...music and performing sort of stay in the blood. Enjoy that new Strat...! ?

By the end of the year perhaps...we are scattered around unfortunately. (Stellenbosch, JhB, PE and Cambridge/London). Will let you guys know and you can come and jam along....how's that ? ?
