  • Ibanez Guitar Range for 2010

My one friend owns a prestige. I have been coveting on for about a year.
    I'm still in two minds whether I like the RGD or not....would still not mind a DN500 though
      Protective eyewear not included???? ??? Come on...
        I see there are no eye gouging tools included in the 2010 lineup..... ? ? ? ?

          True, but every guitar sold, Ibanez will donate $20 to the American Society of Opthalmic Surgeons. I read it somewhere. I think.

            Some interesting changes :

            RGA: No more fixed bridge Gibraltar Pro and decided to include - Edge-Zero bridge w/ZPS3 on the Prestige models.
            RGD : 7 / 8 string models designed for heavy metal
            RG : Interesting new finishes

            Sorry man, but no RGD 8 string. Mistake on Ibanez's website.
            They are only in 6 and 7 string.
            They have an extended neck. Normal Ibanez guitars have an 25.5 inch neck. The RGD's have a 26.5 inch necks.

            Edit: Models: RGD2120Z-> Prestige 6 String
            RGD 2127Z -> Prestige 7 String
            RGD320 -> 6 string from Indo
              I don't really see many new interesting finishes on the non-prestige RG's.. I wish they would give a few better options in the mid range guitars. The only thing stopping me from getting an Ibanez (besides from the price tag) is the plain black finishes, I can't buy a third plain black guitar!
                Some random observations on the seven string pool:
                - With the RGD there are now two 7-string Prestige models to choose from, which is great. I applaud the introduction of a new body shape but somehow it doesn't do it for me. Need to see and play one in the flesh though.
                - But having a 26.5" Prestige is VERY VERY cool. After getting my Loomis I'm not sure I want to buy another 25.5" 7 string. This will be a better quality guitar than the Loom, WITH that very useful Z-trem...a sensible purchase. (Ok it'll be far more expensive than the Loom obviously.)

                - The old faithful RG1527 gets an upgrade to the Z-trem and colour change to black. I suppose that's good, it had that metallic deep blue (princess blue as I mockingly refer to it) for years now. But black...so boring. And the price will go up, the z-trem adds a lot of cost.

                - Then there's still the 8 string Prestige, the RG2228. Unchanged. Still wondering if I should get one. If I don't, and they stop making them some year I'll always wonder. But if I do, I'm almost sure I'll never play it, that beast is difficult to handle. Palm muting across 8 strings when playing on the high strings seemed like a big adaptation when I played it, depends on size of one's hands I suppose.

                What I really want is a natural finish Prestige S-shape 7-string. The S7320 is nice an' all. I think they renamed it to S7420 this year for reasons I can't recall...but once you've played a Prestige...

                  Well, you can always go for the RGA 8 string. Yes like you said once you've played a Prestige.
                  But the RGA 8 will be alot cheaper than the RG2228. Just tell yourself it's a feeler.
                  If you like it. Cool, go for an upgrade and sell the RGA8. If you don't like it. Sell it and lose a bit on the resale.
                  Consider it as a Rental Fee. (well I'm thinking of do it this way)

                    Good idea, didn't think of that... but nah, I tend to go all or nothing. As it says in my sig "it's not worth doing if it's not worth overdoing" HAHA.

                      True That.
                      But out of the entire 2010 Range.
                      I've got my GAS for the new RGA427Z or if I can get my hands on last years RG1527M GW.
                      I still get a twitch in my left eye every time I see that Galaxy White with a Maple fretboard.
                        Was the RG1527M GW available for the SA market? Can't believe I missed it

                          Nope, not for South Africa.
                          it was a limited edition kind of thing in Europe.
                          I'm saving up some cash to buy one from Europe on the 2nd Hand market. You can pick them up for just under a $1000.
                            The RG1527M gave me instant gas too. After a while the black headstock started bothering me a bit, (like wearing black socks with white shorts ? ) but still a nice looking guitar. That's another reason I grabbed the Schecter Loomis, not too many 7s around with a maple fretboard.

                              you can say that again.
