Is it because GFSA is getting noticed out there or what? Or were the filters changed?

I wish they could realise that its a slightly english forum... tsk tsk. And that this forum might, slightly, be related to music

Nothing's changed other than Norio is advertising again. We get a lot more spam than many people get to see as a lot of it comes in in the early hours of the morning. The filters are pretty strict, so it's only real people that can slip in and they get banned pretty smartish.

I'm not a real person, I must have got in before the spam filters were in place. ?

I am sorry for saying this , but having played from a sys admin side and been a hacker myself , and the recent spoofed mail from alan , are you guys absolutely sure that security has not been comprised in some way . Anyone with half decent knowledge will clear there tracks , even down to router/firewall side and advertising is big money . Specially in US . Cos right now i am having a bad case of dejavu .
Heath
Btw , i am in no way undermining the owners , admins or isp or there knowledge in anyway . But in my experience . Something is up .

I understand Tailon, yea there was a huge Joomla vulnerability a white ago.
Allot of my friends that used it got their sites hacked.
I'm pretty sure Norio's got this under control. He would not host this on a unsecure server without the latest Linux security updates.
Good job Alan & Norio!
I see allot of servers get motherF& with spam and hacks!
I'm watching you Tailon (mt I used to hack) ? Just kidding!

I wouldn't be so certain just yet. The spoofed email can be done with many a program or just some plain old telnet to port 25 (although that's a pain in the arse) and the spam can be done by just signing up. Neither is happening frequently enough for it to be a bot or a major threat to the server itself, so I doubt whether we've been hacked. If we have, they've been kind enough to leave everything running fine, which suits me perfectly ?

And yep, server is constantly kept up to date however we've had one person get in via a bad PHP script. That's the life of a LAMP server, though. The best security is a good backup ?

Agreed Norio, since introducing greylisting on my mail servers I have 70% less spam to try and catch.
One can send mail from any pc using Alan's email address or any other address you like! Just by changing a few settings.
I once got a your fired letter from my MD this way, it were the guys taking the piss with me!
