Hello people Used to browse here a while ago, but never registered, someone sent me a link now so thought I would register and become an active member. I stay in Cape Town > Table View Been playing for about a year now and loving every second. I dont think a day has gone by that I havn't played. if I go away, i just take my acoustic with. At the moment I have 4 Guitars: Johnson Strat replica (This was my 1st guitar, got it as a 20th bday gift from my gf) Sante Fe cheapy acoustic (Dad bought for me a few months back) Epiphone Les Paul Casino Floyd Rose Patent (Bought by my gf as a xmas gift last year) 1981 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe (Also bought by my GF as a 21st bday gift) The GF is busy shopping around for a new guitar for me in the range of 3k, thinking of getting a better acoustic Amp's: Started off with a Roland DAC-10, didnt do much other than make noises, nice little starter amp Then moved up to a Masrshall MG15, nice little amp and introduced me to the wonderful world of distortion. Now I am using a Line6 Spider IV 75 which was a xmas gift from my parents. I'm loving playing all things Metallica at the moment, all their clean stuff anyways, not really that much into distortion, love the cleaner sounds

OK just propose to him then. I haven't seen any guitarist need more motivation than a Les Paul. How old are you guys?

M3mPh1z

lol. I think it will take more than marriage to score a '59 lol, maybe a 59 replica.

I'm 21 and the lady is 24

Hey, The Girlfriend. Excellent taste. My Les Paul is the same colour, but a few years later when they'd changed the headstock slightly:

What pickup is that in the bridge.

ezietsman

WOW! Is that a guitar hero axe I see peeking on the left?

Your guitar is really beautiful!! I actually have no idea what pickup it is hey. I have searched but was never able to find any info on it, it looks about the same age as the mini humbucker on the neck, so I'm guessing it was made like that

LOL, yea it is, thats the GF's one, thats what actually got me into guitar

Hmm... weird. Is it maybe just the mini-hum with the cover off? Close ups! ?

M3mPh1z

Close up

I believe that's a Dimarzio Super Distortion humbucker. It's a common replacement for the mini-humbuckers. Big improvement, I'm guessing.

Wow thanks man. Its so kuwl learning a few new things about guitars! ?

AlanRatcliffe

It is a DiMarzio, but it's the DLX Plus - a Hum cancelling P90 replacement that sounds nothing like a P90. ? Almost as hot as a Super Distortion, but quite a different tone.
