Somewhere around 10am this morning we had some downtime. I was upgrading some bits on the server with some less stable (but newer and shinier) bits and things kinda broke. Managed to find a solution with the help of a guru and we were back online again (newer and shinier) in under an hour.

And now you know ?
Kudos to the newer and shinier Norio.......
Nice Norio, at least you did not pull a stunt like a client of mine this morning:

Did a 1day Linux training thingy. His Linux Web server stopped working, so he logs in as root and type: init 0
His server is in the US, now to get someone to power it up again!

Tell him that for a suitable fee you will fly there and power it up for him....

While you're there you feed your GAS.......at his expense...... ? ?
          Hehehe, I like Tom's suggestion ?

Ja "init 0", very wise ?

I normally stick with Debian stable packages but dotdeb.org has some awesome stuff including google's perftools which make MySQL snappier. So this morning I decided to upgrade all my LAMP stuff to dotdeb's packages. Considering the short down time, not a trainsmash and I get some bleeding edge stuff which is always more fun ?
