Marshall JCM 2000 DSL & Jackson Dinky

Hi guys / gals,

So after the flood and loosing all my gear I'm back with some new toys ?

I bought a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL head and Marshall 1960A cabinet from Lance (Tokai guitars).
He was kind enough to hang on to it so I can get money out of one of my investments. Lucky that this amp is a better investment.

The amp had to be shipped from JHB to CPT, and the surprise of it arriving one Saturday morning was incredible.

This amp is insane, it has so many tones. From AC/DC right down to Machine Head.
Another thing, this amp is LOUD ? so need to get a tubetamer on it ?
I don't think I will ever need another amp, this thing = rock & roll ?
To my surprise my acoustic guitar sound so good through this amp as well!

I got a real bargain off gumtree with this guitar. It is a Jackson Dinky DK2. Took it to Bothners for a setup and new strings.
The guitar has a very nice feel to it and sound amazing. Thanks to Manfred we lowered the bridge a bit more!

Looks very similar to a Charvel model 3 that I had years ago.
You must try Wizards new trick of doing the photo's in the morning and on the grass ?

Haha, that's cuz Grover Jackson used to be partners with Wayne Charvel (Charvel Guitars),
No wonder their designs are similar.

@Pete: yes as soon as I get that Tubetamer on I will be able to mic it up.
Right now my bar rattles when I push it a bit to get a nice distortion tone ?

@Squonk: That was my idea this morning, but the weather gods in CPT decided to bless us with rain this morning!
Once things dry up again I will give it a shot!

Niiiiice. I dig the beveled cutaway on that Jackson. So beautiful yet so practical for upper fret access. I wish everyone would do that.

You're right BMU, I thought about that many a times. However, PRS guitars have always had it.

Need to share this with you.
I normally played the amp at 2/10.

Had a shit day at work and decided to piss the neighbors off.
Turned the amp to 3 distortion to 7, this = broken glass in bar!

100w valve = killing big animals!

I love this monster!
There will be an opportunity for all the CPT members to have a shot at the amp at our next get-together!
I think I will put it on 4 tomorrow!

I myself cranked mine to 4 on the drive and 4 on the master... had the windows rattling ?

Did that help? I can imagine that a 25w valve would rattle windows ?
