tonerider wrote I've had lots of technical inquiries about various Tonerider pickups and I have returned all the emails. I am beginning to wonder if it's not better to post here in order for more folks to see what's been talked about...... and is THIS the right department?

Feel free to post tech discussions/articles on the Setup, mods and repair board: http://www.guitarforum.co.za/setup-mods-and-repair/
The usual no direct punting of your products rule still applies, but (IMO) your technical knowledge will promote you and your products indirectly anyway.

tonerider wrote Hi Gearhead, it appears that you are a bit confused.
I'm not. One can actually look up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxwell%27s_equations and work it out oneself: E = i x B so the direction of the current is what counts. So winding ANY coil the other way and then flipping the leads is the same. As Alan pointed out, it should be easier for the manufacturer to reverse wind than to change leads.

Hi Gearhead. I have to say that you're contradicting yourself. Yes, current flow is what counts. This is WHY the coils is reverse wound. The leads are not changed and the start and the end of the coil is affixed to the same points and the same wire color coding is used as the ones adjacent to it. Yet the current (in Millivolts) is flowing in an opposite direction in relation to its magnetic pole pieces (factory installed upside-down to the others in the set) and when placed in parrallel to a clockwise-wound pickup it will reduce hum. It's much simpler than you think!

tonerider wrote I would probably be better to discus this topic on the appropriate forum but I don't know how to migrate this to there. Alan?

Gearhead has opened the topic in this thread:

Thanks Alan!

Just let me know if I'm doing something wrong!

I haven't received any free Tonerider pickups yet. That's wrong. Very wrong. Should be a bannable offence ?

(Don't take the above seriously, BTW. If I had any more pickups, I'd have to get more guitars to put them in! Which would mean I'd have more guitars to restring. Which I get tired of doing - and paying for... ?)
