AlanRatcliffe Just put up a page for this guitar with a couple of nice pics (if anyone is interested): http://www.ratcliffe.co.za/gear/ratcliffe1/
Riaan This is one beautiful guitar Alan! I noticed the "Ratcliffe Custom Guitar" logo... Are your guitars available on commission? Just asking though!
AlanRatcliffe Hi Riaan I've basically decided that when I have the time, I'll do one or two a year to keep my hand in. I don't want to make it a major business though - it's too limited a market locally to be able to rely on it. There's also a certain minimum quality I'd be willing to sink to to keep prices down - there's no way to compete with the Corts of the world in the inexpensive market. I did some costing a few months ago, and most guitars would fall in the R20K - R30K range, or about the same range (price-wise) as the US Fender production-line instruments, but with the features of the Custom Shop stuff.
Riaan That sounds great, and I've no doubt that your axes will be much nicer than the production Fenders. One day, when I'm a real grown up guitarist we'll talk business! First though, there's that small issue of all those scales, chords and songs that I still have to learn, etc. ? We can dream, can't we?

cain There is nothing like buying a really expensive guitar to force you practice more ... Im sure buying a guitar from you would boast much better quality than production made rubbish. Ive seen numerous fenders, gibsons etc that go for 25k + that are the worst quality instruments ever ...
