Whats up with the wiring on this guitar?
I know Gibson used PCB's instead of hardwiring the circuitry on their Standard LP's in 2012 and 2013. Not sure if it started in 2011 already or if they are still doing it. Supposedly it makes it easier to swop out pups because it has a quick connect system that you can use without soldering. Makes sense I suppose, but I think I would swop it out with a wire harness in a heartbeat ?
I think the problem with the PCB system is that it is not that easy to change the wiring to do something different (e.g. change to 50s wiring or add treble bleed). Handwired doesn't sound any better at any rate. I changed both my LPs to 50s wiring because I don't want the treble to bleed away when I turn down the volume, which happens with the modern wiring schemes.
