VellaJ http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-Stuff-for-Sale-musical-instruments-PRS-SE-Custom-Semi-Hollow-W0QQAdIdZ253935395 Don't know much about semi-solid PRS guitars, but this seems quite cheap. It's not as pretty as most of them, but it's still a PRS... so they say...
Riaan-Combrink I saw this in our local (Tableview, Western Cape) small-ads (Homeadswest): Japanese made Squire Stratocaster, left handed. R 1 600 onco. To view contact Mrs Dee. Ph 084 500 6316. I don't know the guitar or the seller. Thought I'd post it as I know our Southpaw lefty friends struggle to find axes - and 1 600 for a Squire's probably not bad.
RobK Riaan C wrote ...and 1 600 for a Squire's probably not bad. Unless it's a bullet strat, then it's a bit much (you could most probably get a new one for under that) - although maybe worth it since it's a lefty
shaundtsl Try and get a serial number on it. Then there are many site which help decode the year, model etc. You could get alot of useful info from the SN.

Dinosaur-Snr Heres a link of a Gibson SG thats currently on Gumtree: http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-Stuff-for-Sale-musical-instruments-1970-1972-Gibson-SG-Standard-W0QQAdIdZ258119925 Something doesnt look right here guys. It looks like a fake. The one tuner is skew, it feels like the serial number and "made in" stamp is not where it should be. The Volume and tone controls, the input jack, the pickups even the Gibson Logo looks wrong! Eish!! ☹ What do you guys think?

It's the real thing...since about '70/71 some minor changes were made to the SG. See the bridge for example in the one advertised. The Gibson logo is also consistent with the era. The neck inlays are also different to earlier models. Note the volute near the headstock in one of the pics...all consistent with the era Here's a link to an authentic example at $4250 !! http://www.joetheguitarman.com/1972%20SG%20NAT.htm
singemonkey That guitar is absolutely typical of a mid-seventies SG Standard. My buddy has an SG special from the same era with mini-humbuckers. Nothing unusual about that one. The guy from stewmac who appears on a few of their brochures, Eric Goreman, has a great example with an extra pickup and a wrap-tail bridge. It's his number one guitar. They've got their own look going on.

Kalcium I wasn't gonna stop using the kinmans, was just thinking of maybe trying them out...but yeah I guess I should hold back on the GAS, especially when its as random as this... ?
MikeM Kalcium wrote I wasn't gonna stop using the kinmans, was just thinking of maybe trying them out...but yeah I guess I should hold back on the GAS, especially when its as random as this... ? Rather gas for a proper amp
