I HATE the sound of EMG's, but . . .

. . . i recently got to jam with my cousin's Duncan Black Out Metal louded Ibanez. And it kinda blew me away ! It sounds nuffing like the dull and sterile chugga-chugg EMG's that is investing the metal music genre. Used the above mentioned guitar, into my booteek 4-into-1 custom RAT, into my Bassman (AB165 circuit). Dear Lord did those Black Outs push that Rat into the sleaziest crunchy OD i have ever heard. And they are really quite, if not quiter than the SD A2P's in my Gibbo SG at the same settings ? I am seriously thinking of buying yet another guitar (lil cheapo - Squire maybe ?) just so that i can buy a set of these non-EMG sounding actives from Duncan. Is there any other fans of these out there in deepest darkest south afrika ? Any owners of the Black Out METAL versions ? I think i like these too, because according to the Duncan tone chart on their site, it is much darker voiced than the "regular" set of Black Outs.

Hey Peter, that is theee best looking $1.00 guitar i have ever seen - hell, i would not even bother painting it, it loosks sexy as hell, as is, mate !

This must be the best bang-for-buck guitar in the country !

the parts where pretty expensive, but they all top quality so i think it a pretty good deal ?

I'd never change it if I only played on od/dist, but I need cleans, too... the Blackout's problem is that you just can't get a good clean out of it.

GT8 FX and Peavey Reknown (budget is a bit thight nowadays)
