Vox AC30CCx

So...

Just got offered a Vox AC30 for my strat. In a bit of a conundrum as to what to do. You see, I only got my strat 2 months ago, but it's never really done anything for me, much prefer the tone of my humbucker guitars and the feel of the shorter scale length of the other guits.

So I guess my questions relate to the Vox. I've been gassing for a valve amp for a while, and here comes an amp that I assume is decent. Is it any good? Considering I play Ska/Rock.

Is this the AC30CCx with the alnico blues? How old is it/condition?

Try it first, but they're good with humbuckers and a great amp - especially with Celestion Blues. I do like the Vox sound best with single coils though - fattens them up nicely.

Then again considering you have a JC 120 why on earth are you looking for another amp?

It's not that I've been actively looking for a new amp, this just popped up out of the blue. And seeing as A) I've been gassing for a valve amp for a while; B) Its the one with Alnico Blues and C) I don't really like my strat, it seems like a good deal. But I fell hesitant.

And yes, I must come round! I'll see about tomorrow, I have to put a fan up, but it might be cool to pop round for a quick jam! ?

hmm you might be sorry to let that strat go... was that the one you took to the 2010 guitars?

ac30 and a jazz chorus together are abso;ut;ey great, deals on good amps you should take the are far less common then guitars, i would take it especially if you not using the strat to much. Can always get a strat again one day, but yeh try the amp make sure its coolio and do it!!!

Just hit a snag - the guy tells me he's in Diep River, Western Cape, and there's no way on earth I'm swopping my strat for anything if its on the other side of the country...

Try get him to record the thing and post it up on youtube, like some ebay auctions do. That way you can be sure everything works...

no man keep your strat... don't let the GAS for a new amp take away the fact that you cant check the thing out properly.

Remember how we traded guitars, you took it for the weekend with an opportunity to use it properly, I even played that Ibanez that night in a gig.
Unless you have at least 30 minutes solid with the thing trying it out its risky.

I must still make a plan for a Durban get together...

I don't know. I know matta uses BEX couriers to move amps.

The video should show you that all the knobs and so on work at least.

Well it just fell through. Thinks they aren't of comparable value, which they aren't. Then why even waste my time? Jeez...

Oh well...haven't lost anything! So no matter.

I think you've dodged a bullet there, Danny. Open yourself up to the sweet, sweet love of a single coil guitar. Let it be your friend. Take it out to dinner. You might find you like it.

add a little reverb and some mild gain and pretty soon you'll be rounding all the bases...

Hehe, I think I've been thinking wrong here. Shouldn't be getting rid of it, should be learning to love it ?. It actually is one hell of a decent guitar...
