As a matter of interest, have you used Lexicon, T.C. Electronic or Fractal Audio multieffects? Using Zoom as an example is like me saying that because Rocktron stompboxes (or whatever the current cheap, crappy pedal brand is) sound bad,
all stompboxes sound bad.
Consider that when you are talking about most modern effects like modulation, delays and reverbs, pitch effects, etc., the stompboxes are usually just scaled down versions of the same manufacturer's multieffects boxes, often with lower quality electronics, D/A converters (if digital) and less processing power.
Guys there is no dissing here
Any guitarist who wants this I really think he must go find something new to do, cuz he obviously cant play
Hmm... what was that about no dissing? You've just told John Mayer he can't play.
If you equate using a complex effect with lack of skill then you have to apply the same standards to
any effects usage and toss out all your own effects. In fact, have you ever had a Jazzer or folkie guitarist tell you that you can't play because you rely on distortion? You're doing the same thing now. What about guys like Steve Stevens, Matt Bellamy, The Edge, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp, Steve Vai, Vernon Reid? All heavy FX users.
Take a look at the who's who on the Fractal Audio Artists page, then try tell me pros don't use multieffects or modellers.
