I actually think it's quite cool. EMG Actives as well. Very nice.
    i think its pretty cool.
as far as i know they originally build it for Matt Heafy of Trivium.

I don't see anything wrong with it. If you like 7-strings and you like the explorer shape, why the hell not?
i think it looks exactly like a normal explorer
Why not? Coz it costs a guzilian rand... ?
What's this? A new Gibson that I like. I knew their had to be a catch, then I saw the price...! ?

I get you, the explorer shape is 100%, the idea of a 7 string explorer just doesn't well with me..ag, ek is net seker vol k@k...I know if I had a chance I'd buy one..

They're trying to fill all the gaps, the only one they're forgetting is the price gap
I figure the more 7's the better. But man I just can't get excited about that headstock that looks like a drooping sock. Ugh. Don't mind me, I'm just a philistine who doesn't get the whole vintage thing.

Also, is that a 24.75" scale? On their big fancy product page Gibson don't mention it. If it is, that's not good at all imo. It's hard enough keeping the 7th string tension up even on a 25.5", even with a .59. My Schecter Loomis 26.5" gets that JUST right. (And it doesn't look like something that belongs on the porch in a rocking chair ? .)

No I'm the same with the dropped headstocks. They are barely acceptable on a locking nut guitar, but they can cause a bit of a tuning nightmare with a normal nut because of the extreme angles the strings go through the nut.

I'd think so. Gibbys usually are (or the historically accurate 24.65"). Some guys like the feel though.
