I am trying to get death metal - why can't I!!!!

Black metal, death metal the whole thing with fast guitars , insane drumming, it's good - I know it's good - but I think I just reached the generation gap - after so many years!. Maybe this is a major step in music evolution - who knows. Jut cant' listen to it. Satyricon I can sort of get, but some of the stuff I just feel like running away when I see/hear it! ?

You're right... my mistake... but i didn't know where to put the poodle dani... the spca seemed full at the time so i made a place for him there.

"the best album to me" ... so take yr list and shove it ? Soundtrack is way better than Clayman, and jester race is bleh... Colony had one awesome track on it thanks to Kee Marcello... But soundtrack was a pure work of art.... wait for it... here it is... "TO ME!!!"

Same as Hypocrisy's albums... some albums had gems... except for the one i mentioned which was, once again, a work of art.

People and their sub genres... sheesh... math core dethcore.... poopcore... whatever man... its music. Who cares... but feel free to nitpick some more... u getting good at it ?

No no no, Soundtrack is only fourth or fifth, the fabric of spacetime depends on it. Bwaahaahaa. ?

(I find it hilarious, my nitpicking In Flames album ranks and then laughing at someone else for nitpicking sub-genres. We just can't help ourselves it seems.)

Those sub genres and splinterings seem so meaningless to the uninformed. After all those bands all sound the same when you first start to listen. Fast noise with a troglodyte on vocals ... apparently some call it boggin music ...

I think that focusing on any one particular genre of music is up to the individual concerned but becoming elitist and proselytizing about it is good old fashioned snobbishness. But then who am I to criticize?

I have only seen a couple of local Death metal bands. I was entertained by all the throat screaming, swinging the hair about, roles on the the bass drums double guitar solos 3rds apart and all that stuff. I wanted to start a Death Metal Band this year but I didn't have the energy for all that shredding so I formed a Death Blues band instead. If I was 30 years younger I definitely would be in to death metal it looks like so much fun 8)

My son's in a ~~death~~ oops Black metal band. They're doing a long-awaited gig at the end of the month. Panic stations! They write all the music first in Cubasis and some other program. Then they go learn their parts. Then they practice it. (I think that's more or less how it's done) He composes endlessly - own drumtracks, first and second guitar etc. I think he could actually put together a couple of albums without ever doing a live performance! But of course the music is one thing - the performance is IT! I know he hated the corpse paint at first, but they've worked out a more rugged version - more earthy, for themselves.

And what kills me is I get my recently rejuvenated steelstring back from the shop. I am trying to bond with it. He takes it from me (I taught him but he left me behind about a decade ago!) - open tunes it, picks up the groove tube and winds it to make you want to cry. And feel bitter with jealous rage. ?

Lol. Yeah it's hard work learning stuff like that up to performance standard. I bought the latest Cannibal Corpse CD which comes with an in-studio 'making of' DVD and they use exactly the same process for learning songs. First on computer then onto the fingers. I've done that too with complicated parts - write a midi file, practice along with it until smooth, then record it. But in my case I can conveniently forget it almost immediately and move onto the next section since I don't perform live. Thank goodness. ?

Its excellent. ? Glad you're enjoying it! You know they nearly came to SA? (Before I'd heard them). Sold tickets and everything. There was some mess up. Organisers had to refund the tickets ...
I must say I am purely into this for the music and the amazing musicianship - am totally irresponsible when it comes to lyrics - they go right over my head - I think this track has some pretty sublime guitaring on it. The bit right at the end is really beautiful.

You should give opeth a listen to. It has long winded songs but they do it in a way that kinda puts you in a trance and they have very cool clean bits in between there distorted guitars.

Megadeth is also pure win.

Came to SA? Never heard of that, but then I completely missed the fact that Carcass were here until too late. (Only my favourite band in the world ever, GRRR.)

Lyrics? Death metal has lyrics? Hehe. ? But seriously, these guys put a lot into their music, each CD sleeve has notes worthy of a Ph.D thesis in egyptology.

bum... u got karl sanders solo album "saurian meditation"? Granted its not metal or anything... but the guy has wiked ideas...

Also a tip as to the aum people seeing meditation and jumping on the phone to buy it... forget it... unless you want to meet your darkest fears... then by all means go for it. Ptah would be so pleased.... anyway... just a q... answer, dont answer... its all the same... ?
