Hey guys Long story short, there is a special on these for the next 2 days, and shipping is done via EMS (Typically 5-6 working days and insured) which costs $28. The tonebar costs $32. Anyone want one? Can't bear to pay as much for shipping as I do for the bar... The template costs $16, I will be buying one, can make copies if you need. It's a formed sheet steel part that basically looks like a flat mushroom. The shaft is threaded metric thread on the inside. All you do is first drill the large (20mm+) diameter with a speed drill, then you drill the shaft dia with the right normal drill and then you hammer the thing in flush with the top face. A bolt coming from the other side will get lotsa force in. The downside to all this is that you will need the fretboard to be off to install. Mostly handy when you're making the neck from scratch - exactly what mine were bought for.

Gearhead, a few months i went searching for wooden inserts, real small ones(M3) for a certain project iwanted to try.

I went to almost every engineer shop local, and no one had, until i got lucky with one shop, there where 2 shops, BESCO and NESCO(the one specialises in nuts and the other in bolts).
But its in cape town, so probably a dead end.

what about fastener agencies, there are probably closer to you, although they have not replied to any of my emails ever:

Believe me I did shop around. They are heavy enough not to add to your 20kg of check-in luggage if you can buy locally. But now that we're getting even Belgian forum members we can start thinking about bringing in that stuff in an organised manner ?

I know it's called a T-nut and I do not think it is too big. In fact if it were (in case you want to put it as close to the side as Leo chose to do) you should just cut off some on one side. I would prefer to break away from the traditional spacing, even putting the nuts in such a pattern that you can contour the heel.

To revive this topic, would these work?

There's one with a 10mm external diameter, and 14mm long - seems ideal for a neck, and would cut better into a harder wood like maple.

The Acorn ones seem to have quite thin walls, they also don't say what they are made from or what the intended application is.

The EZ Loks still look the best. If you end up ordering some, I'd be willing to go in on three or four sets and share shipping.
