Tone Suck from pedals?

Not sure if this is in the right section, if not please move it. I have a small assortment of pedals and my Marshall SS 50w, if I plug straight into the amp I get a nice warmish full sound, if I go through a single pedal (even just the Boss TU-2) the bass is robbed and its much more tinny, quite noticeably so. Whats the work around for this? EQ pedal? Try rather use the effects loop? The pedals are powered with a 9v 2a 18w power supply so theyre not being underpowered at all, cables are all decent etc. ☹

I use the tuner output from the Ernie Ball volume pedal to feed my TU-2.

maybe this is a good excuse to build that A/B switcher I've thought about doing for a while...

Nick, good point.
But i almost always have my blues driver on (don't like super clean much) so that one doesn't matter too much and then it's just the phaser. But i have heard a few things about the tu-2 tonesucking, but as you say it probably has the same buffer system that all the boss pedals have. ???

So after some fiddling plugging things in a million times it does it with all the pedals and all my cables on my amps clean channel. BUT if I combine the two channels (my amp can do that by not plugging in a footswitch) it doesnt do it, so Im assuming its the amp.

Will just combine the two channels and leave it like that. Want to book some time with Matta though to see if the second channel on the amp can be cleaned up a bit.
