hello..... in my nosing around the web i found a parour guitar but a nylon which is made by la patrie (canada) and is the same company as godin/seagull ect ) the guitar is a La patrie 'Motif" featuring a 3/4 size body and yet retaining a normal classical neck width and scale .....
and contrary to belief of a small body being tinny or thin .. all reports and the internet abounds with reviews on this guitar and everyone mentions how warm and loud it is...........the word mellow is used often .so my ears pricked up.... i like warm and mellow....
so who imports them and do they ......... see they only priced at $330 so a impulse buy for sure if they live up to their reputation on the web..........although many suggested changing the tuners out immeadiately
looks interesting and has a solid cedar top and a rubbed finnish ......very interesting ....so it should mature quickly in just a few years..... as to my knowlege cedar matures many times faster than spruce........
anyway if anyone has played one?????????????????? let me know........or if you seen one anywhere ..... not that i need this but it has peeked my interest .......... and at that price prob i'm guessing around R4500 or even less and thats before before discount ......... it's an interesting prospect

Macci Pro Audio somewhere in JHB. You'll have to look them up as I'm on my way to Graemestock...

Don't know if Macci Pro is still around as I tried them a number of times and just got an answering machine stating that calls for Tropical Audio etc etc - left messages but no return call. (Was looking for Godin SA)

thanks guys .. but seems a bit of a moot point right now..............
i read the specs closer and yes they claim to have a full scale classical neck on a 3/4 body ....... and i was interested till i read it has a radius'ed fretboard............. and by the trussrod being there it says it has a more comfortable neck ....... which can only mean a thinner neck profile as in girth wise...in other words it's another of those "Horrid' (well in my books) cross over nylons...... aimed at an electric feel with nylon strings.......... such a pity ..........
am i just too fussy and a purist since surely a classical should have a classical fretboard and be flat ..... not many steel/electric players surely want a nylon...it's almost an exclussively classical/flamenco beast ........... and again i'm strange i honestly prefer the thicker traditional neck ...... it feels wierd to play a thin necked nylon ........
so yeah there you have it ......... what seemed like a good idea to check out at the time has fizzled out into .."i'm not even interested to see one"
but thanks again for the solid advice....... can always count on this forum to find the distributers thanks again

Well, I have been thinking a bit about this crossover guitar thing and wondering if it isnt the way to go. See, I like playing the nylon guitars (because I really like the sound etc) but when I play electric guitar it just feels so different and cant seem to get used to it either way. So I thought maybe find electric guitar with wider nut but cant find anything more than 43 mm. Couple months back in Guitarist mag they reviewed some new Yamahas (NX series). The NTX's have narrower nut width and slight fretboard radius and the NCX's are wide like and flat. I guess I need to have a go on the radiussed ones to see if they are OK for me. Cant find the new Yamahas in SA though. Maybe need a bit of time to get here.
