Nope. The reason your deluxe has mini-humbuckers is that Gibson made p-90 guitar bodies when they reissued the Les Paul. But people wanted humbuckers. So they took a bunch of Epiphone mini-hums, put them in cut out P-90 covers, and dropped them in the p-90 slots.
My Deluxe is from 83, and the p-90s dropped straight in. Nice, snug fit. No carpentry involved. I'll find the thread for Les Paul Deluxes on the mylespaul forum for you.
