Hi. This will be my 2nd introduction, but I need to post some pics of my gear. ?

Been playing since I was 13, im 28 now. ?
Been teaching since 2001 at The National School of Arts, St.Stithians College, American International School (but the idiot running it now Mr.Haller managed to succesfully disband a afterschool music centre that ran for 11 years; in 2 weeks) and a short stint at St.Davids College.

I have been playing pro since 2001, toured the country probably 3 times with all the gigs... Many many corporate gigs (big clients), too many club gigs and counting. I play for an original band now; or have been for a few years. This great rock band is called MRS.B, and is probably the best original band out at the moment in south africa, but I doubt we'll last long coz were all mostly starving and getting old (I know I am, coz im not gigging for money at the moment, original music does not seem to pay anymore).

I am also taking a little break from playing TOO MUCH, I have become seriously dissilusioned with my career choice as musician. Seriously, I'm starving and finding it impossible to survive physically and financially. So, I'm focusing on teaching for the next few years while I study something that'll give me the dayjob I hate and I'll be coming home everynight and loving my guitar again; right now I'd rather burn/sell my gear so I can get out of debt ??? ?. Anyhow look at my gear, I guess that and my cat (missing cat) are the reasons why I still do this. I have some beautiful equipment, and some great effects.

GAS will still come? What are you talking about? I just swopped a ibanez "old" stock axe for a filter modeller? The KAOSS paD? Thats GAS. Such severe GAS is it, that a kaoss pad is meant for DJ's and keyboard players, but I felt it a "must have". ?

Anyhows. Yeah, I teach contemporary styles. EVERYTHING but classical, coz I simply don't know how to play classical the correct way. But yeah, I focus my teaching on improvisation and development, but for younger students who wish to become pro players I focus my methods on getting them into university, which means a ltouch of everything you do in the "real world" which includes a pinch of country, blues, pop, folk, rock, metal, hard rock, pop pop pop, pop, and finally the holy grail JAZZ.

I guess I'm a decent teacher, but I simply follow my teacher's methods. I was taught by Nick Carter and Luke v.d Merwe and had other classes with bass player Jason Green. Staying humble and only playing when asked.

Great looking Deluxe. I have a black '83. Is it one of the "new" ones with the small headstock, mahogany neck, or the original style with the big headstock and maple neck?

How's the Ibanez Custom? It it a good Les Paul? Is it one of the early bolt-on neck models or a set-neck Custom?

Hope your career's going a little better. I guess the longer you're in the game the better you'll get at it (the making-money side, I mean). Hang in there longer than anyone else and I'm sure you'll find a way.

The gibson I got (in the pic), is a 1980. The neck is definitely smaller than standard, and the headstock too. It's nice for me, I have some trouble with the neck-size of a standard, although they sound awesome and is easier to make a sound from it. If you ever come to my live shows then you'll see that the guitar takes quite a beating as I feel I gotta squeeze the guts out of it.

The ibanez custom copy I had was very nice actually. If anyone out there sees one in a shop/pawn store get it, or tell me. Very well crafted guitars, and very low in price. Way above average even in pro guitars. It'll easy fall into a 20k+ type axe, but they sell for very little,R2k if ur lucky thats why I swopped it for a filter modeller.

I hated the mini-humbuckers. Best move I ever made, imo, was swapping them out for P-90s. Not hard to make a sound out of those ?

Oh and the Mini-humbuckers are awful when trying to play pro, but sound wonderful if ur trying to go for some unique sounds in the studio. I was also forced to change my bridge pickup to the seymour duncan mini, coz the original ones scream uncontrollably on stage. Embarrassing when you have Johnny Clegg's band staring at you from backstage. :-[ :-[

I didn't want to drill any holes into my gibson, so the only pickups that fit are the seymour mini's, if anyone knows other mini-humbuckers please let me know.

Which seymore mini's did you take? The SM-1 or SM-2 or SM-3?
