The past Friday I had my first lesson and already I've learnt a few things I didn't know, had some things I sortof knew cleared up and some things corrected. Altogether a very good start and I'm happy to say I made the right decision.

Having a teacher to "answer" to each week also helped with some motivation, so this past weekend I practiced more than I did when I was doing things on my own. Drawback is that today my fingers are a bit tender and I have a few e-mails to type ?

It's all good, though, and I'm looking forward to the next one.
Hey Rob.......the journey never ends.........!!!!! ?

Glad to hear you're practicing. Sounds like you've started off on a good path.
@aubs1: I know. I'm just concerned about running out of storage space for all the stuff I'll really need along the way ?

@viccy: heard something or other about practice and perfection, so I thought I'd give it a go ?

Strangely enough some people have heard of practice makes perfect, and then still expect to play amazingly without practicing (I may or may not be talking about my own student). So, putting "practice makes perfect" or even just "practice makes okayish" into practice is very evolved.

I believe that's called "Guitar Hero" - available on your choice of console :roflmao:

Seriously, though, I'm not aiming for anything close to perfection, just to a point where I'm happy, and that point might change from time to time.
Well done... the first baby steps is most import... get a good foundation and u'll get better every day! You can practice all you like, but if you don’t have the correct technique, “practices makes perfect” aint gona cut it! Just my 2c's...
I started taking lessons just over a month ago and boy does that help!!! Keep it up!!
We had a saying in shooting......."Perfect practice makes perfect", not practice makes perfect.......you can practice all you like, but if you're practicing crap, you perfect the crap!!!! hahahahaha....
Hey Rob, please understand that the way it's meant........not to put anyone off practicing......... ?

Of course you would. He has a high-powered gun in his possession.
Stratisfear, you were not supposed to warn guys, in case I need to go knock off someone who disagrees with me, or says anything bad about my gear, or crits my playing negatively!!!.......hahahahaha ? ? ?
Eish, now I have to practise so I can practise perfectly before I can start practising to get perfect. Sortof sounds like a training course for doctors and lawyers (all the practising) ?
Ja, ur right... its worse than it sounds! hahaha! ?

Exactly Rob........we're watching you........and in a few weeks, we gonna come check out what you've done perfectly.........hahahahha ? ?

Have fun mate.......that's the most important thing.....enjoy the journey........!!!
                            4 days later
                            Congrats and enjoy the journey.

Perfection is in the eye of the beholder.

What I deem perfect NOW is so much different to when I was 19, but I don't regret the path I took. We all walk to the same destination, we just all walk different paths. Some guys stop at the cafe, some decide to walk slowly and pick up every rock and study it, and some run and cut through the field. End of the day, we all end up in the same spot and have a huge jam and share our experiences that way.
