AlanRatcliffe The competition will start in October and details of competition and prizes, etc. will be given then.
WantzChas Alan Ratcliffe wrote I could speak to Bumblefoot (Ron Thal) You speak to Bumblefoot? And he owes you one? You are more awesome than I once thought.
AlanRatcliffe He's actually a very approachable and likeable guy. Total lunatic, but real friendly. ?
NorioDS We don't have a birthday competition for GFSA's 2nd year as the best forum EVER - sacrilege! ? So I'm going to update this thread soon with some info over the next week. Get your gear ready for another AWESOME GuitarForum.co.za birthday competition! (For those of you who weren't around this time last year, check out the awesomeness here: http://www.guitarforum.co.za/monthly-competition/gfsa-1st-birthday-voting-thread/)

NorioDS Eish nothing happened here yet - sorry guys. Was internetless and things have been hectic. I propose, to get things happening, that we scrap all previous ideas and do a new GFSA theme. A birthday should be a big thing and what's bigger than writing the theme song for the biggest guitar forum in SA? Winner gets recognition and other prizes to be confirmed once we hear back from sponsors? This also keeps it simple as you can basically go ALL out and record whatever/however you want and just post your entries on the forum. I'll then post a poll and we get to democratically decide on the winner? Perhaps if Alan can still get Bumblefoot involved, he can pull an Idols final and basically give his professional input but the vote still rests with us, the members. This way, we can get started right away and unleash our creative geniuses! All in favour...
Manfred-Klose maby we can get someone to set some rules(hint hint). Average song lenght? 3 - 5 mins perhaps?
AlanRatcliffe My apologies - I've been a bit too busy to get stuck into this. But yes, new theme. No limit on track number, instrumentation or length (although remember, shorter files will be smaller and thus easier for those with limited Internet caps to download and so possibly vote on! ?). I should be in Cape Town on Tuesday for the day, so I'll tackle Bothner's and maybe Marshall Cape for prizes. I'll PM Matt at Musicmadness.co.za, who expressed an interest in sponsoring a prize. As there are prizes involved, I will also recuse myself from the competition. It wouldn't feel right if I won something... ?
[deleted] Hmm. Alan, will that really be necessary if the winner is democratically voted for? I don't think anyone would begrudge you a prize if you won fair and square? My vote is that you should line up to compete just like everyone else.
