Difficult to stop at the best of times. I can understand GFSA members mistakenly posting a pic from here to Facebook (especially as you didn't specify any rights as being reserved or watermark them). But a friend should know better than to upload your pics from their camera - and of course, while pics posted here are relatively low res (so you could view them as advertising), those direct from the camera would be high res (especially if you shoot in RAW).
You have to be careful - certain sites, when you post pics or text, you automatically "agree" that you are handing over copyright to that site (We're not one of them, BTW). Even Facebook - they tried to quietly change their rules to misappropriate the rights to all posted content a few months back, but were forced to back down as there was such a hue and cry when people found out about it.
I find that a lot of my pics get hotlinked for posts on other forums - people just do a Google image search and then copy and paste the link to load the image from my site. I'm not a pro, so wouldn't mind, but it chews up my site's bandwidth sometimes when they are posted in a busy thread on an international forum.
