Fender Jaguar HH Special, 2002, Japan. I love this guitar, bright clear tone, loves to be strummed. Even more jangly than my Tele! This is my baby!

Fender Telecaster Standard, 2006, Mexico. Bought it last year for R2500.

Hondo II Strat Copy, 1978-1980s?, Japan. Bought it for R300. I can seriously say that I am delighted (and surprised) with this guitar. It is by no means perfect (actions not great - but playable after I set it, intonation and tuning is difficult - but not impossible), but it has a seriously lovely sound - Each pup has a its own distintive character. Especially the Neck position. If you select halfway between neck and middle/middle & bridge, you get some seriously scooped sounds. I plugged it into my Solid State Marshall MG80RCD at last week's band practice and it BARKED like the dirty dog it is! Seriously happy for R300 bucks! Totally unexpected.

Ibanez Artwood AW100CE 1999. Bought this from Bothners in Bellville, so thats how long I've had it... Its never let me down, and funny enough it sounds great through my Marshall MG80RCD. Go figure. (Actually its sounds great through any old P.A. as well!!)

Marshall JTM60 with 1x15", 1995, British Made. I bought this amp a couple of years ago for R3000. It needs a lot of restoration work. It was working reliably until recently. Its about 15 years old so it needs a new set of Valves and Caps which with Mattas help I hope to sort out relatively soon. Its uncomfortable to carry due to the tall cab, but otherwise its lovely. My band's other guitarist was using it with his vintage Epiphone Scroll and it sounded great, there is something about 15" speakers! I'm dying to run my Hondo through it! BTW Does anyone know what 15" speaker it has? Edit: I took a torch and the speaker is a Marshall "Heritage" 15" But surely Marshall dont make their own speakers? - I took the back off. Its an Eminence speaker 16Ohm

Marshall MG80RCD, 2000, India. This amp has been a great work horse. Its a solid state amp, and continues to continue on. Its had some maintenance done, dry joints and the like, but for an amp thats been gigged a lot I'm very happy. I bought it new after my Valvestate 8080 (Which I LOVED) started making funny noises. In retrospect, It should probably have been better to keep the valvestate, but comparitively this amp is (ever so slightly) harsher and comes slightly short in low range punch compared to the 8080 (which IMO was probably due to the Celestion G12 that the 8080 had) But thats my take anyway.

So thats my Stuff, I have a Boss GT-8 MultiFX and a Boss Overdrive, Tremolo, Chorus & Tuner (building up pedals for the future board) and an old ARIA Diamond Fuzz/WAH that needs some serious loving.

Totally agree - that's on my wishlist...

You got some great deals Sidecar - I got my Squier Tele for the same price as your Fender! And the SG too - you got yours cheaper new than I paid for mine secondhand.

Yeah I really dig my Jag. I took a loan from a friend, I just had to have it.

The SG special is a lighter simpler version of what you got giggsy. Its really entry level, but when I picked it up in the shop it felt so great for sub R2k! But the Tele was definitely a great buy too!
          Great stuff sidecar! ?
Nice mix sidecar - love the Jaguar!
Yeah the Jag is great, I still would like to figure out exactly what the bottom 3 switches do with regards to the pickups.
                Very nice Collection

Ive always wanted to hear/ play a Jaguar , they are a very well respected item on the EBAY

Any famous clips on records where they use them?
Hmm.. Dunno about famous clips. although i know radiohead have used a jaguar from time to time, although it is the original config has single coils, something more like this:

Your amp looks very similair to one I had a few years ago..

except mine had 3x12"s in it.

the 15" should be nice and bassy 8)

Ah Nick, 3X12"? that's interesting hey! Was yours also a JTM60? Funny amps these...

like a complete moron I sold it about 8 years ago when I wasnt playing much and I moved from EL to CT.. it was either a JTM60 or 80, but it was in mint condition :'(

Eish, retrospect is a (fill in appropriate word). When I was initially looking for info on this series, it was difficult to find any official info... Its like Marshall dont want to admit they made them.

On another note... the Valves it has in it now are Marshall Logo, do you perhaps know manufactured these?

Actually I wouldnt say it was particularly bassy or bass heavy (it didnt lack any bass though), it was nice and bright too... I think that the best way to describe it is that it sounded bigger?

Anyone Ive ever asked about a 3x12" Marshall full valve has looked at me with a blank stare, good luck ? I never even fiddled with mine, it did a few gigs and then I gave up, never got a chance to fiddle with it ☹
mmm, so many buttons and switches.... what do they all do?

good question, start a new thread and we'll get to the bottom of it!
Lethe wrote: mmm, so many buttons and switches.... what do they all do?
According to Fender the HH Jag has the following controls:
                                    Upper: Master Kill Slide Switch, Neck Pickup Humbucking/Single-Coil Blend Control, Bridge Pickup Humbucking/Single-Coil Blend Control;
Lower: Neck Pickup On/Off Slide Switch, Bridge Pickup On/Off Slide Switch, Normal/Low Cut Slide Switch

The vintage models were way ahead of their time and have an On/Off slide switch for each pickup and then two different tone circuits (“Rhythm” and "Lead") and you could switch between them on the fly:

“Lead” Circuit: 2-Position Tone Switch, Volume, Tone,
“Rhythm” Circuit: Volume, Tone, Circuit Selector Switch
Lol, silly me I was assuming the question was about the amp :?

I still think there's quite a few things about amp functions most guitarists will not be able to explain... 'Presence' and 'Q' for instance ?
Nice guitars Sidecar! Some really good buys you collected if you ask me!
