Who's interested in a GFSA Joburg setup workshop?

Hi all, following up on the Joburg gettogether (or however you spell that) I am looking for a bunch of names of people interested in a workshop on setups and small jobs on the guitar. I will post a preliminary programme below; please comment if you would like to see a change to this list (or have some other smartass remark ? ). After we get sorta enough names together we are going to look for a 'teacher', some victim guitars and a venue so don't hold your breath just yet. Should we run out of time on the evening itself we will obviously organise another one to finish up so don't say this is an ambitious list:

Acoustic and electric setup:

how does a string vibrate?
truss rods
bridge action and neck angle
nut action

Electric setup:

intonation
string radius
pickup height

Guitar care and upgrading:

tuners
tremolo bridges
installing acoustic pickups
changing electric pickups

Will there be a practical session? If so then it would probably be prudent to tell people to bring their own guitar and truss rod key ?

Yip this would be lekker. Also a bit of a discussion on different hardware eg. bridge types, etc.

The idea was to find problem guitars for as many topics as we can, later. I could bring mine but I like the setup on most of them just the way it is and I presume this goes for other people to varying degrees ?

Please let it be clear from your reply whether you want to come (time permitting of course).

As stated, first thing we need is some idea of the amount of people. If there's 3 it's not going to happen and if there's >300 we will fly someone from the Fender Custom Shop in. Somewhere in between would mean that there will be posts here later announcing where & when. RU in?

I am in. I assume if we're trying for >300 invites are open to friends outside GFSA? I know plenty people who aren't on this forum who would attend such a workshop. If this is allowed, if will go get confirmations.

I would be interested, maybe everyone could bring a guitar, be it acoustic or electric and the workshop would be then be practical as well rather than a "this is how it's done" demonstration.

I am definitely in. I also know a lot of people not on the forum that would be really interested in this kinda thing. This is a great idea ?

In general, I believe in the rule that you shouldn't make more rules than you can enforce. How do you see if a guitarist is not on the forum? Welcome all. (We will have to share the costs upfront, then ? )

I would bring my own guitars. They could definitely do with a good set up. I am sure I am not the only one who knows a thing or two about adjusting the action and such, but just needs some extra advice and guidance to get it where I want it...

The string vibration theory could also be very interesting
