Nope not intended at all - just haven't gotten round to fixing it. Sorry mate! As soon as I have a gap.

You'll soon see how Alan opens up gaps. ?
Heath
i have 42 hours on the clock and i am no where near alan.........

Just checked Ala's stats.. my 10 days, 3 hours and 46 minutes. isn't anywhere close!
AlanRatcliffe
Ummm... 56 days, 4 hours and 2 minutes. :-[ As of the now.
To be fair though (or, depending on your viewpoint: in my defence), I leave a window open with the latest unread threads and refresh every so often - so the system doesn't always log me out between reads and I probably have lots of 30 second visits that show up as the full time until automatic logout (what is it Norio? 20 mins or something?).
NorioDS
Automatic logout? Mine never logs me out so I dunno what you talking about!
There's an option, when you log in, to keep you logged in forever. I use that one. But I think it bases the "time online" stat on your session and time in-between pageviews. ie:
13:31:10, 13:31:15, 13:31:55, 13:33:00 -> would be one session while...
13:55:05, 13:55:17, etc -> would mark the start of a new session
I'm not sure but it probably takes 30 mins before it's considered a new session.
And then... everything inside a session is probably added up to give you your total. So if you just left your PC on all day and made it refresh every 5 mins, you'd completely out-do Alan ?
Gearhead
A couple of meaningful posts wouldn't hurt either :?

And my cap nehehehe.
Are you saying my posts are not meaningful Geert?
AlanRatcliffe
Yes - I suppose I mean a session timeout. I use the "login forever" option already.

Yeah - but don't tell the wife, eh? ?

Ah - but you've only been here half the time I have.
Riaan
Ah - but you've only been here half the time I have.
As I've said before, I wonder if Alan is a computer, or a committee of people...? ?
AlanRatcliffe
We are not amused. ? You will be assimilated. ?

Time online works as Norio said:
You can stay logged in forever, but if you don't browse around your personal timer would not increase.
I bet all of you I can beat Alan's time (by cheating) ?
I would never do that, I promise ?

I am catching up. And I am gonna do it honestly ?

Thats the spirit, but remember. This is not a race or braging rights.
We are here to learn from brilliant fellow guitarists.
MikeM
HAHAHAHA. Yes I am definately going to brag about online time.
It's more of a thing of having forum commitment issues ? Hahaahaha
If it was about bragging rights, I'd probably cheat. But it is a personal thing ?
Spyke
On the car forums, where minds are somewhat smaller than here, we actually need to have a 'post whoring' section where members can post any random LOL/GFA/WTF etc etc just to get their post count up - it's seen as bragging rights, never mind the fact that 95% of their posts are irrelevant and useless.
I'd like to think that at least 70% of my posts help in one way or another (excluding my Friday funnies - which reminds me...) be it from offering an opinion or asking a question that receives valid answers. Correct me if you feel I'm wrong! ?
Heath
Problem is , one day your boss walks past your desk , he likes guitars , he chats to you about , you show him the forum , he actually sees how much time you have spent online with the forum . he fires your arse (cos he doesn't like guitars as much as you) .
possible outcomes
1) you become a busker for bread money , a producer finds you , you become the next superstar .
2) you sell all your gear for bread money , after 2 years you have no gear , no home , woman no longer find you attractive and you become homeless .
3) you become a drummer (need i say more)

It is a strange and sad world where people value how much has been said above the quality.
Oh well, +1 to me ?
