Anybody got any suggestions for talks/demos/a schedule for the evening?
Well one obvious thing would be for me to bring the Smoothtalker along (as long as Keira promises not to panel beat it). It's currently at Mervyn's for some adjustments, but I should get it back on Saturday.
As regards schedules, somebody will have to take charge and contact people and say "can you do such-and-such for us?" It might be an idea to rotate that role once the get together becomes regular, but for the time being it seems that you have drawn the short straw. Better to ask people by PM rather than put them on the spot in front of the whole forum. Whilst it's fun to sit and jam and look at gear, and time should be put aside for that, I think people might perceive more value in something where there was going to be some kind of value - a gear demonstration, a performance by a good player, a talk on some aspect of performance. If you are hoping that a jam or a sort of open mic session will take place then best to arrange for somebody (or somebodies) to kick proceedings off to break the ice.
