Oh sure. They make money from advertising. (though there's some questions about how much they make and even if they make a profit). And they can sell advertising because people log in and use their service.
That's about the equivalent really of the free newspapers the Caxton group distribute in various parts of Jo'burg (in my area we get the Northcliff & Melville Times). No cost to
me, but of course somebody is paying (the advertiser).
I don't think that the NMT owe me anything particularly.
