On searching through the facebook "Help Centre" I came across a thread of people who have had the same experience and also have had no help from FB to fix their problem....some of the people getting quite aggro with FB about it too.
Anyway...I am so disgusted by the whole matter - I just deleted my account altogether from facebook......I'll never go there again...... >☹ >☹
It does speak of flaws in their software BUT to be fair to FB they provide a free service. Years ago shareware programs used to come with a set of caveats that included something like "compensation in the event of malfunction will not exceed the amount paid by the user to the authors for the use of the software." IE "you paid zero, here's your zero back, have a nice day."
If services like Facebook or YouTube charged users then nobody would use them. We embrace them because they're free but expect the same level of service we get for products that we pay money for.
I think this is quite a general problem in this day and age - not just a FaceBook thing. We want everything for free and we want it NOW and it better work perfectly.
Something has to give. Professional IT cynic Clifford Stoll illustrates the problem by drawing a triangle and labelling the three corners "Good", "Cheap" and "Fast". No matter what we want, the hard reality is that you can only get one side of the triangle. If you want it good and you want it cheap then it ain't going to come fast and so on.
It is a frustration when bugs appear in these kind of services, but user support costs money.
