Alan's Book

I am currently down the South Coast, Scottburgh to be precise, for 3 weeks of holiday, strategically planned for July to miss the Ice Cold JHB winter. While meandering through the Scottburgh Mall kind-of-thing, I stumbled upon the CNA and on display in the windows was "The Electric Guitar Handbook". Paged through it and was quite impressed with the design, layout, and information. Went to get some wine, came back and the book was gone. Holiday reading has just taken a dive. Good stuff Alan ?

A while ago, my dad came home with a guitar book that he just so happened to see at a book shop. When I discovered this site and saw the name Alan Ratcliffe, i was just like," Wait, i recognize that name" and low and behold it was your book ?

I really liked the part of effects.

You think that's cool - how about this - we have a Ratcliffe Rd just down the road from work - the man is known far and wide ?

Indeed. He gets around:

And there Alan was getting worried about slippers as a cause to rage against the dying of the light...

Alan also played cricket for Cambridge University, Surrey and Wales in a career that spanned 1928-1945 and scored a first class double hundred. ?

...and made his own bats.

He is one busy man....

He is also a vintage British motorcycle enthusiast:

And is yet to make his mark proper in competitive motor racing: :-[

I've been reliably informed that the Cumbria County Council in Carlisle ordered 250 copies of his book for the local library per an order placed by their newly appointed Head of Procurement: ?

Aside from co-moderating our dear forum, he still has time to breed, nurture and show prizewinning goldfish!

Multi-tasking indeed ... 8)

I borrowed a copy of Alan's book from a friend yesterday.
It's a very good book.
Should be compulsory reading for forum members ?

It is. Those of us lucky enough to have a copy should ask Alan to sign it. I can imagine trading it for a Custom Shop David Gilmour Strat a few years from now.... ?

I notice the cover has a Gold Top Les Paul.
Not the guitar I would have guessed to be Alan's favourite
