Is that the 540S or the R? I always get mixed up.

That is a seriously good looking piece of equipment! ?
Riaan
Mean looking guitar! Really nice! We're looking forward to hearing more from it!

Thank you for the compliments guys...As for Alan's question, its a 540 S
Cheers

Nice axe ? Can't say I'd go for that shade of green tho ?
Gray
Wow its pretty,
I think the green, combined with the thick black strap with the copper/gold pattern, dark fret board/headstock and the fact that its so clean cut gives it that american muscle car feel.
Seiously sick.

I love the body lines on those - very sexy. It's a seriously slender body which is light and very comfortable to hold. One of the nicest guitars Ibanez have ever made, IMO. I almost bought one once (with a stunning and very rare burly mahogany body), but the neck is too slender for me, anorexic by my chunky lovin' standards - personal preference, I know.

Definitely love the contours on that line of guitars! One of my main reasons for loving the JS series is just how sexy and comfortable they are. Can't wait to get one!

By "that line of guitars" I don't mean Ibanez guitars in general. Some are VERY ugly, boxy and boring!

I see that there's been talk behind my back..lol ;D
Ok, first things first, this particular shade of green wasn't my cup of tea either. It all happened (back in Dubai a few years ago) when i decided to go guitar shopping after receiving an annual bonus. I knew i wanted an Ibanez but i was still uncertain as to which model (i was initially prompted by a buddy to consider the JEM WH) i should get. So i get to the Ibanez store and i ask them let me try out a JEM, and believe it or not, i was pretty disappointed by the stock Dimarzios and the trem on it. So the guy at the store gives me this fluoro metallic matte green S to try out and my first reaction was, "Dude, i can't see myself playing that thing". After much coaxing by the sales guy, i plugged it into a MESA Lone Star (on the 50W setting on crunch) and the sound just knocked my socks off. I was so impressed by the clean sound and the way the whammy felt that i completely overlooked the colour. However, i am considering having it repainted in a bengal blue or something like that.
Now,the green doesn't look too bad... ;D once you get past it, but i do love about the guitar is its killer neck. True, it isn't for guys who love Gibson, PRS etc etc. The neck isn't narrow though. This guitar was built with shredders and virtuosos in mind. The shallow profile of the neck allows for great technique. And i absolutely love the minimalism with regard to inlays...I absolutely hate inlays. Anybody who wants to disagree on this point should first take a look at the Parker guitars before they say anything. And it has a nice Zero resistance tremolo that allows for adjustment of spring tension..which IMO is very handy. I've got mine set at the least to allow effortless dive-bombs, and this setting also allows for great fluttering (turn the whammy facing 180 degrees away from the neck and slap the arm to get the flutters). And lastly, i love bound fretboards ?
The strap was black with nothing on it when i first got it. Its wide and its padded ( i find that regular straps sometimes eat into my neck and shoulder). The grapic was my cousin's idea (She was studying at the time, and was experimenting with fabric paints). She drew a guitar in flames with the sun on the one side and the moon on the other (to remind me of my goal of wanting to burn frets day and night). And then she drew a rattlesnake with the male symbol on one side and the female symbol on the other (to imply the phallic nature of the instrument...lol ;D )
And finally to take the focus away from the colour of the guitar, i put a sticker of the late great Che Guevara (most people think i put it there for kicks, but i used to be a commie and i've done my fair share of marching and protesting...none in this beautiful country that so actively supports the right to strike though...i know, shame, you say..lol ;D )
Cheers amigos.
P.S. - Norio, you should check out the new guitars that Ibanez have added to their catalogue..especially the S7..yummmm

Hehe, it's like my purple Ibanez. Took a while to get past the colour but that guitar plays very well. Even with stock pickups and everything.
About to buy a nice tasteful black Ibanez now though, so I can redeem myself among my friends and family ?
Will definitely check out that S7, thanks!
NorioDS
Hmm, you won't catch me on a 7-string for a few years still ?
What other new models should I check out?
NorioDS
But MAN, that S7 has sexy contours!

I wouldn't change a thing on your guitar. That green looks really original and probably loooks pretty good on stage. Don't confirm, break the mold man.
arjunmenon
Norio,
Check out the SV7 Prestige and i'm sure you will also like the Andy Timmons model (beautiful guitar..probably the only one where i will make an exception to my no inlays rule). Joey, thanks for your comment. The green actually does look pretty good under lights..but now i'm looking at getting a Musicman John Petrucci 6 string in Mystic dream (his signature paint job that changes color under lights from different angles). Trouble is, at 22000 rand i'll have to first dodge my girlfriend's bullets...
Norio, does your wife know you've got issues..i.e. wet dreams involving guitars...lol ;D just kidding boet.
Cheers,
Arjun

Hey Arjun ?
Yeah, I dig the AT series but they're not really my thing. I'm not a big fan of traditional-looking guitars. In other words, anything that looks a little too much like a Fender won't do it for me ?
I know it's weird but I'm just one of those guys.
Yep, Tanya knows -- sometimes she worries that I love my guitar more than I love her ? She's copying well I think ;D

I just watched the third installment of Timmons on the latest
Guitarist CD. I have to be honest, I was surprised to see the AT Ibanez when they started the series (I didn't know about the AT guitars and thought he was a Suhr endorser). It does seem to be more of an "Ibanezed" Fender than anything else. It looks like they've discontinued the series though - they're nowhere to be found on the IBZ site or online stores.
As to wives - mine is a muso herself (piano), so has no problems with gear and even buys me guitars and mics and things. ?
Styles
I'd tap that (lol)
