I'm looking to purchase a Bass guitar soon. I have a 15W Roland Cube atm which I use with my Cort EVL.
Now if I buy this bass will I have to buy a bass amp or could I use my Cube?
Now I've found some decent secondhand bass's for my budget but they don't include an amp. I do have a means of playing through my computer if need be.
Should I get a cheaper bass and pick up a bass amp along with it or buy a more expensive bass and just play through my computer or without any amplication at all for the time being?
Thanks in Advance!

I recently played on a Fender Bassman 200, which has been recently discontinued.
Now, having heard what a decent bass amp can sound like, I know that anything else just doesnt cut it. I am playing in a band situation where it calls for big volume, where will you be playing bass? In a band? in your room?
Personally I would go for a decent bass and leave the amplification for later, you could always go straight into the desk at practices.

It works for practice. Buy the best bass you can afford and wait until you can afford a decent amp.
I don't have a bass amp. I only use the bass for recording, so I mostly use software - Guitar Rig (and occasionally IK Multimedia Ampeg SVX), which are fine if your monitor speakers can handle some low end.

Wicked cool, that question was also floating around in my head. Thanx!

Ah I see. Thanks for the information.
Well I'm in a band but its more just for the fun of it and I doubt we'd ever gig any time soon so it'd be more just for practicing.
I have software on my computer I can use to play through but I doubt my R150 Creative speakers are gonna cut it when it comes to the low end the bass can produce.
Perhaps even do some damage if I try? ?
I don't suppose you could buy headphones that would be able to handle the low end would you?

You could get headphones, but bass frequencies sound better coming at you from a metre or so. I'm afraid a cheap solution isnt available. unless somone knows something I dont...
