  • Two Hand Tapping in the style of Buckethead...

Hi there guys this is my first post and id like to discuss finger nubbing ala Buckethead, ive tried about all two hand tapping techs out there but have only found one or two that are really worth the effort...
I will discuss the one that to me sounds the closest to what he gets, that robotic atonal tapping. IMHO 8)

This technique is not really that difficult to get hold of but rather hard to get up to any decent speed, so I will detail it.

You start off by hammering a note for example the g at the 12 fret on the same string, with you hand over the guitar, think (michael angelo) then releasing it to a prefretted note at 7 with your hand in a normal position, thus playing a tritone, then hammering 11 and then releasing to 6 etc... so on...

I started by using two fingers, the index and middle, so it would look like so. m=middle finger, i= index.

      m m i i
      e-h12^p7-h11^p6----------------------
      b- -----------h12^p7-h11^p6----------
      g- ----------------------h12^p7~-------etc.....

Then try and work three fingers, now adding your ring finger, in a more rythmic idea using triplets like so......r=ring finger
      r r m m i i
      e- 12^7-11^6 -10^5----------etc...

This idea needs to be practised slowly to build up the coordination, but like I said its easy to get up to speed.

      any suggestions!

Have a look at this... insane!
          a month later
I will hopefully post a video on how to do this in about a day or two. Had to convince my fiance' its an important cause...
