What tune in your playlist/radio are you listening to currently? I'm digging Danzig so far.

Jeff Beck - Wired

You can't fault the playing on this and Beck's solos are terrific.

Doomsower

I only recently discovered Ian Dury & The Blockheads.
Real cool stuff.

Geoff Muldaur - Beautiful Isle of Somewhere

Great live set from a deep musician. Just Muldaur and his guitar in a small venue. He's a fab singer. I wish I'd been there. Students of acoustic blues should give this a listen.

Chabenda

Loving this at the moment

I'm having a first listen to this at the moment. It's making a good first impression and so far I'm glad to hear some progressive metal that isn't going into djent territory.

Andy Statman & David Grisman - Songs of our Fathers

I've bought two Statman albums recently and have enjoyed them hugely. So I'm hot on the Statman trail. This one is recorded with his mentor (and mandolin great) David Grisman. Statman is a wonderful and eclectic musician. On this album he and Grisman are strictly in Klezmer mode, putting the bluegrass and jazz aside. It ain't rock and roll, but it's got a great feeling. With genre-hopping monster bass player Edgar Meyer and Wrecking Crew drummer Hal Blaine on board the backing is capable to say the least.

Statman has a huge catalog, and I suspect I'm going to be mining it for a while.

Bombino - Agadez

It's payday, thus iTunes day. Bombino is from the same musical school as Tinariwen, operating in a style that the Tuareg simply call "guitar". It seems to me remarkable that a repeatedly displaced people could develop a musical scene that would spread out across the world, but that's what has happened. I don't know how, but let's be thankful that such a thing can and does happen. The music is instantly recognisable as what we in the West refer to as "desert blues" but Bombino puts his own vocal and rhythmic stamp on proceedings.
