What tune in your playlist/radio are you listening to currently? I'm digging Danzig so far.

Transatlantic Sessions Series 4 just arrived via UPS today. This will no doubt be a prominent feature of life at the X-Rated home for the next while. Same concept as the previous three series - invite musicians from Ireland, Scotland and the USA, stick 'em all together in a big house out in the highland countryside and roll the tape. Well... it's not quite that straight forward, but they do have limited rehearsal and recording time.

Weather Report's Sweetnighter

The opening bass line in Boogie Woogie Waltz just explodes in my head (and leaves me speechless) everytime i listen to it.
IMO, the entire album kicks major fusion ass ?

Seriously good concert, you wont be disappointed! Sound was good, band were great, and for once the crowd was really into it and knew every song - usually you'll get these guys complaining all the way through - why spend R500-600 on golden circle tickets if you are going to bitch and complain all night?

Anyway, someone said something on one of the other posts about guitarists that use a different guitar for every song - last night the Killers guitarist Dave Keuning used three - predominantly an Epiphone Flying V and then two hollowbody guitars (one he used only for one song) which I couldnt identify from my angle? May have been PRS shape/style? The bass player did play a beautiful white Gibson LP for a song are two when he switched to guitar duties.

Got golden circle as well!

He (the guitarist) was actually featured in Guitarist magazine a month or two ago. I'll see what they mention about his gear in there.

Alan Ratcliffe wrote More rocking than some of his recent albums (one gentle clean track, one classic, one raging country picking - the rest are all rock), more interplay with the bass (as befits a trio). His tones do tend to be "wiry" rather than ballsy ...that's Morse - he's a rocker with prog/country/classic leanings, not a NuMetal downtuner. ?

Out Standing In Their Field just arrived yesterday - yup it's got a more rocking production than Structural Damage. The guitar tone was fairly subdued on SD. It also leaned more to a classical type of composition which I enjoyed, this one sounds more towards straight ahead rock. But it does sound great, I'm only 1 listen in. Love that bass/guitar interplay.

Today's playlist:

Dream Theater - Images & Words
Steve Morse Band - Stressfest
Yes - Big Generator (Trevor Rabin's genius)

Garth-S

I'm loving these bands (so to speak):

Owl City
Mutemath

Willem186

I am really enjoying necrophagist, good band...

lindsmuse

A real corny playlist (just for fun) consisting of:

'mmmmmm' - Crash Test Dummies

'Owner of a lonely heart' - Yes

'I wanna fly away' - Lenny Krawitz

'Don't fear the reaper' - Blue Oyster Cult

'War' - The collaboration with Bono

'She drives me crazy' - Fine young Cannibals

Maybe I should've posted this where you confess what music of yours you're slightly embarrassed about. Ah well... ?

Hey metalheads, check out The Faceless, Planetary Duality if you haven't already. This album is blowing me away right now. Chaotic.. yet cohesive. ?

Little Feat Waiting For Columbus. One of those bands that was great as a band in concert and in fine form.

arjunmenon

Eric Johnson's "Ah via Musicom" & "Venus Isle"

ha ha, I'm listening to my copy of Andrew's album.

He is very good, and the tone, ah the tone... I do hate him now..

The new Weezer album, Raditude and the new Biffy Clyro album Only Revolutions. If you haven't heard of 'the Biff' then give them a try - Scottish rockers with a bit of a Foo Fighters sound (although Only Revolutions is a lot less experimental then their first four albums). Along with Muse and Feeder, one of my favourite three-pieces.

dee

I'm a bit disappointed with the new Weezer. I was hoping for something more in line with their old albums.

The new Biffy Clyro is awesome though.

Currently listening to albums by Braid Paisley, The Donnas, the new John Mayer and 30 Seconds to Mars.

giggsy

I kinda like the Weezer - growing on me... The Biffy Clyro though was an instant favourite. Also trying out the Volcano Choir album and the latest Kasabian which is incredible.
