More than that. He's got that little trick he does where he bends two strings in different directions and by different amounts. I think he goes a tone on one and a tone-and-a-half on the other. As you said, mind boggling.
He sounds like a pedal steel player at times. There's a fantastically slippery solo by him on the original version of Joan Armatrading's "Tall In The Saddle".
