Valves and good amp techs in Gauteng?

Hi, does any one know of any place to buy valves in Gauteng (preferably Pretoria but joburgs fine as well...)

I am having some minor problems with my Mesa Boogie Studio .22+ and i want to see if any of the valves need replacing and have amp looked at.

these problems include
1) perhaps some kind of earthing/ wiring problem. In some sockets i plug into (not all for some reason, but everywhere in my house and in some other houses ive jammed at) i get this wierd squeeling coming out of amp (only when guitar volume is up)... its sometimes loud but some times this vague wierd sound in the back - also like a slight popping.clicky sound?? So I want to get that checked out.

2) Also there is no distortion in the lead channel - it def switches channels, but no solid boogie distortion...

J.P Le Roux knows his stuff, he does mods and builds you replica amps ( matchless, soldano etc ) so that does show some skill ...

Hi thanks for the info! Im gonna give the guy in PTA a call as i a return trip to Joburg is a bit heavy on my petrol budget... I hopw he can sort my out so i can taste the true glory of the BOOGIE!

Last I saw, Pia had the NOS gold pin GE in stock (which is the Rolls Royce of the 5751s), as well as a variety of NOS JAN ones, which are every bit as good as the Philips.

She gave me a call yesterday after my mail bounced, said she's out of Philips'.
What would you recommend I go for then? What prices are we looking at?

Ask her what she does have. The last pricelist listed the GE gold pin for R420 and various NOS JAN models for R170 each.

Checked out the pricelist and I think I'll settle for the NOS JAN. Gonna pick up a few 12AU7s for a pedal build while I'm at it.
