I've seen this used by a few musos now and I'm keen to learn it, even if it means a couple of lessons. YouTube has been mildly helpful, although I can barely get a rhythm going before I bugger it all up.

Is anyone here familiar with rasgueado aka flamenco strumming? In particular, the three-finger rasgueado?
Three finger rasgueo uses following finger. Index (i) Middle (m) Ring (a)

Basically a method defined by Frederik Noad consists :

Make a fist with right hand
    Flick out a
    Flick out m
    Flick out i

The most important part is that each 'strum' must be clearly defined and that it doesn't sound like a blur, but 3 consecutive strikes. It's usually a bit tricky at first seperating the ring and middle finger strokes.
An additional technique involves an additional upward stroke with the index finger after the a m i. -> Down ( a m i) up (i)

The one I'm after is the triplet rasgueado where the middle finger (or middle and ring fingers) is flicked down, followed by a downstroke with the thumb, and completed by and upward flick of the thumb.

This is what is looks like:

I've tried to emulate it but no luck thus far. I reckon lessons are the only way forward ☹
That's the one Gabriela from Rodrigo Y Gabriela uses. Hmmm. I can do it, not sure what I have to say about it. When I do it, the motion comes mainly from the wrist. There is a video interview with her where she explains it... i think it was in Total Guitar... let me see if I can find it...
I saw a video of hers on their CD, but damn do they go through stuff quickly.

Maybe I must just persevere until I get it right. I see some very sore fingers in my immediate future.
