+1 Bob, well said!
I wouldn't have said it if I hadn't had one too many. Not that I was up or looking for a fist fight or something, but booze does lower inhibitions sometimes. I should have pointed out to the person concerned that it was bad form for him to be yakking on his cell phone, to even let it ring, in the middle of an acoustic show in a small venue.
It pisses me of when this happens at shows. Sometimes it feels that people go to shows just to say they where there!
Oh it happens a lot and all over the place. I went to the famous Sandy Bell's in Edinburgh last year. I wanted to go there to soak up the history of the place and take in some good folk music. The trouble is you can't hear anything because it's so full of people who want nothing other than to say that they've had a drink in the famous Sandy Bell's rather than to listen to the music it's famous for.
That it happens a lot and all over the place doesn't make it any better or more acceptable (to me at any rate) or even understandable.
Then they call their best friend while the best song is playing and hold the phone up in the air so that they can hear as well!
I just want to smack people that do that!
Well I guess that in many cases it's the celebrity/notoriety factor that is involved. I guess if people want to pay money to be in a room that had a stage with famous people on it then they get what they paid for. And if that's what you want and the famous people in question deliver a crap show then you still got what you wanted for - and you got a better return on your money than I would have.
