Here's my (cringe-worthy) entry for this Challenge - Vocals http://www.box.net/shared/h2jr0n7vkq Four tracks, including vocals. 1. Drums: LeafDrums - Played a little with compression and reverb this time. Sounds better but still not spot on. Need to learn more about drumming techniques. 2. Rhythm Guitar: Hondo LP, Capo 4th, neck 'bucker - Slight overdrive on the Zoom, comp, chorus and a touch of reverb. Stereo'd. 3. Lead guitar: Squier Strat, neck and bridge (superswitch) - stronger overdrive on the Zoom, usual comp, reverb and EQ'ing. Tried tapping for the first time (recorded) and I'm well pleased with the results. Stereo'd. 4. Vox: JVC microphone into the Zoom505II as a pre-amp and compressor. Fairly strong compression initially, touch of reverb. Recorded and mixed on Audacity. Ran compression on most of the tracks, especially the vocals. Added a little trem and reverb for the final vocal bit and EQ'd in Audacity. Added reverb to the drums as well. Also experimented with some filters this time round, still perfecting it. Final mix down suffers from the same fate as most of my tracks - I monitor on headphones. That's a fail. Drums could have been stronger. We won't even talk about my vocals... :P

I ran out off time with this challenge (hectic monthend fixes) but I gave it a try anyway. Class: Beginner Tracks: Guitar (Tele), Bass (Cort), Drums (Hydrogen), Vocals (Me) http://www.box.net/shared/smn3j62lai

My first entry! :D 3 guitar tracks (one rythym, one lead and one bass - done on the LP 8) ) 1 vocal track Can't believe I chose my first one to be with vocals :-[ oh well! Went for a bluesy style. I actually snapped a string during this! ::) http://gfsa.s3.amazonaws.com/33/KayDub_inthecorner.mp3 Been playing for 5-6 years, still beginner i think?
That is totally awesome guys. It's great to hear the differences in interpretations! Fabulous job!

Spyke - Fantastic! I love the fact that you added your own words. Great, well done!
Squonk - If that is Pea soup then please can I have seconds. Great sound, great vocals!
KayDub - Wow! That's probably how it should have been done! Great vocals!

This will be a nightmare to decide.. :'(
Well done guys .. .. :applause:

Very impressive entries!

Well done to each and every one of you - surprised at how well you guys sing (I have since realized that I should stay away from a mic when it comes to singing...!)

Some great production quality this week too. Everyone that entered is a winner in my books. As it's said in Afrikaans - julle mag maar.

Yes voting will be a nightmare, but I just 'felt' some better than others.

<----- oh look...

Your vocals do not sound bad at all. I've heard alot worse when trying to study in my dorm room at Uni... Your voice can be trained, if you do not practise (practise correctly) your guitar, you wont be able to play properly, same with the voice. You have a good base to start from... ?

+100 for doing it!!
Guys, well done! This is just amazing!
It was such a hard one to decide on!

I would give each of you a vote if I could!

:applause:
So hard to choose, awesome material people.
Wow.
Well done! Everyone!
Vocals certainly add a whole extra dimension to songs.

Thanks for the compliment, guess I'm just too critical of my own voice and not critical enough of my own playing.
I salute all four of you! Great entries!

@Squonk: I like your vocals! So that's what pea soup sounds like, and it's good!

Me...had to miss out on this week's one...no time, no mike, no voice.... :-[ Hopefully the next one!
O.K I finaly think I know what peasoup sounds like..

Squonk it sounds like you heavily processed that vocal.. Almost made me want to turn out the lights, grap some 'grass' and make as if I'm listening to the Floyd.
We need some tie breaking votes here people! ? Come on, have your say!
...and it's neck and neck into the final stretch, Noble Steed breathing on the heals of Dancing Mist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?
Congrats Squonk! Can't wait for the next challenge! ?arty: :applause:

Thanks to all those who entered you are GREAT! ?
Doh! Left in short trousers again.

Nothing wrong with Angus Young! ?

now that was fun... thanks guys and well done Squonk!
wonder what the next topic will be? ?
All I need now is a lawyer to sue you all for copyright infringements!!! [EvilLaugh] BUWHAHAHA [/EvilLaugh]

? ? ?
Closest contest I've seen.
Amazing when the 'last' place gets nearly 20% of the votes.
Well done to all those who entered !

I think most of us who didn't enter are shy about our singing abilities...
I've been sleeping on the job again! - Well Done to our challenge champions Kaydub and Squonk. Squonk will you PM me the topic for the next challenge.
