Heya all.

Today I found a bass. It's in pieces, as I remember dismantling it years ago. It's Jazz bass shaped, but I couldn't find marks of the manufacturer anywhere. The electronics look ridiculously made, but the neck and body look pretty professional, so I suppose it used to be a "real" bass, before some idiot ignorant person started to fiddle with it.

As is said, there's no indication of the maker, but! I also found the plate thingy at the neck joint (whatever that's called), and it says:

STEEL
ADJUSTABLE
NECK
Made in Japan
1024941

I tried searching for the serial number, but didn't find anything.

Frankly, I'm intrigued. I know the bass is at least 20 years old, possibly 30. I'll put pictures up soon.

Anyone know anything about the serial?
Sounds like a Matsumoku made instrument - they usually have that exact inscription on the neckplate. Probably an Aria or a Westone branded bass. Search for Aria serial dating and you'll probably come right with the year.
The Matsumoku stuff looks well made. Atilla has an Aria knockoff of an ES-355 that looks really good.
Searched and found some nice information. Apparently it's a Matsumoku-made Aria Pro II Jazz bass copy from 1981. Nice. 8)
