  • Great Green Concert - saving the earth note by note on Sat 18 April

Hi guys,
There's a great concert on this Saturday in Centurion - in Botha Ave in the street in front of the venue Steak & Ale. It is organised by Moonprint Productions, a non-profit organisation that aims to make people more aware of the crisis the earth is in, by means of music (yeah!)
It is something we cannot ignore any longer.

Sixteen artists will be performing on two stages, including the Dan (The Man) Patlansky, the great Piet Botha and Jack Hammer, Tidal Waves (reggae rock), Die Kaalkop Waarheid (think the E Street Band in Afrikaans), Gian Groen (Afrikaans rock), Josie Field (beautiful - and her music is too), Albert Meintjies (of the brilliant acoustic band Scicoustic) and The Black Cat Bones (wildcat blues).
The organisers have asked people to bring bags of separated trash for recycling purposes and you get a free draught if you do... There will be stalls, free drinks, cheap drinks and lots of food and other entertainment. It starts at 15:00.
Book at tunegum.co.za at R100 or pay R120 at the gate. Yes, I know, but this is a just cause and a great lineup of original musicians, so please, please spread the word and come!
Tx.

Hi, Matt! I'm in Cape Town so can't come, but I promise to recycle a bag full on Saturday. And I challenge all other non-attending GFSA members to do the same! ?
Going to see Dan the Man on Friday at the Blues Room. Cant wait
Tx Riaan! Go buy yourself a draught.

We should really start pulling finger and doing something ... if we want our grandkids to have trees, for wood, for guitars...

A future of plastic/synthetic guitars. Now there's an inconvenient truth for you. Scary thought, but probably inevitable as the competiiton for wood resources becomes more intense in the next century.

Is there any kind of work being done around sustainable use of woods commonly used for guitars?
