Bass, Drums/percussion, acoustic guitar and eletric guitar. Many of the Morricone hallmarks are there, detuned Fender guitars, spring reverb and bells. With more tracks, or longer extent I would have probably had male vocals, a wah guitar and a tremolo guitar. Mostly bridge Tele pickup, but the middle section arpeggios are bridge and Strat neck pickup together. I departed from the formula by using a Vox amp instead of a Fender to get more chime, just playing closer to the bridge to get the brighter tone needed for the first part. "Acoustic" is my Strats piezos DI'd. Each section is busier than the last. Bass also starts simple and gets a bit busier as it goes on. I had no time to do any tweaking or mixing other than basic levels and panning, so there's nothing interesting on that side this time. @CDee - liked the snare idea. Very good master level too, which made it jump out in comparison to many the other tracks. The melody guitar is a bit too bright and jarring for me.

Thanks Alan, that helps alot. Still have much to learn about recording myself. I just can't seem to get the hang of the volumes and settings and stuff in the software... :-[

You haven't been doing it for long though, have you? You're doing very well all things considered. Complex stuff to learn everything. I still feel I'm only scratching the surface of Sonar myself.

Few technical oddities in the recording though. WAY to much compression on the left acoustic guitar.

You're right...I looked at the track again and sure enough, it seems I added two compressors to that channel... :-[...Sonitus Fx and right at the end, I added some valve gizmo which I thought would add "warmth" but in fact was another compressor!

Yep, also lots and lots still to learn here...but great fun!

There is so much too learn, but as everyone is saying, it's fun. ?

I bought my Electric guitar about 4 years ago, but only pulled it out the cupboard for the Sexy challenge(still had the shop strings on)So not only is recording a new thing but so is electric guitar, I am in love with it. My Takamine has been in the corner for a whole month.

Will have to study up on Nep's notes on recording, and Alan's(and everyone else's critique).

My first challenge is to understand effects, not too easy for an acoustic player, I always used to add a bit of chorus and maybe EQ and Delay. But the electric is different animal, I am going on what my ear tells me and not the science of thing. :-\

All the entries were very good, I thought Riaan's one was very good ? - really picked up the mood very well and the recording was good quality.

I am not going to Alanyse them all, but good work all of you, I am really learning from your entries.

It was really a quick recording, I had no idea what to compose. Hence I didn't fuss too much with effect, just found a patch that worked.

Clipping, yup, no masking that. Too much gain for Audacity to handle in certain places.

Alan, I had NO idea what Spagetti Western was before this.. :-[ So I just went.. 'mmm, make it sound weird!' The AirCon is going to become a big part of my sound from now on!! But being the resident drummer I hope I'm excused for my misjudgment.

Hope the next challange is going to be something I actualy know.. like, 'How to play E and A after each other.. :?"
