OK, here goes...beginner category, Spaghetti Western. Dusty ol' Clint squinting over the town square, like a statue, the only movement is from the cheroot in the corner of his mouth, and a twitch of his trigger finger...

Not much time to record, basically 20 minutes.
Peavey t-60 through Zoom G2.1U into Sony Laptop
Strictly Beginner, might be even less than that.

Well, inspiration hit me and I quickly knocked this together.. 4 guitar tracks.. nothing else.. Recorded with a dodgy Washburn acoustic with old strings, in my control room with the emergency aircon to add ambience, using a Beyerdynamic condenser mic..

Hope the drummer got the idea behind Spagetti Western right.. :P

This is a more modern version of a Spaghetti Western theme. Bass, Drums/percussion, acoustic guitar and eletric guitar. Many of the Morricone hallmarks are there, detuned Fender guitars, spring reverb and bells. With more tracks, or longer extent I would have probably had male vocals, a wah guitar and a tremolo guitar. But hey, you can't have everything.

Guitar is the StraTele, detuned a tone with lots of spring reverb (although not as much as Morricone would use). Mostly bridge Tele pickup, but the middle section arpeggios are bridge and Strat neck pickup together. I departed from the formula by using a Vox amp instead of a Fender to get more chime, just playing closer to the bridge to get the brighter tone needed for the first part.
"Acoustic" is my Strats piezos DI'd. Each section is busier than the last. Bass also starts simple and gets a bit busier as it goes on.
I had no time to do any tweaking or mixing other than basic levels and panning, so there's nothing interesting on that side this time.

Here's my 'entry' for this week.

Slight problem though... I broke the rules. Halfway through this take I felt inspired and broke out in - a cover. Oh well! I think it sounded great and I don't mind forfeiting my votes, I couldn't come up with anything really western anyway! :P
Up to you if you'd like to post it for the guys to listen to.
