Let's Keep It Super Simple this month, we'll go with "Something Distorted" - my idea and as we were lacking any others, let's rawk with it 😬

To kick off deliberations on the next challenge, I'll suggest "Something distorted" - topic inspired by all the daft news I've stoopidly been consuming recently. Any others?

All you gotta do it tie in the distorted theme with something - a rock/metal track, a singer/songwriter take on the topic - all is welcome.

📅 Entries Close: Sunday, 8th May 2022, 23:59PM

📜Rules: Entries can be any length, but remember to tie back into the topic!

No genre restrictions or recording equipment restrictions. Use the interface, use the cellphone - it's all good.

P.s. Collaborations are welcomed!

⁉How To Enter: Record your entry, sign up or log in to SoundCloud, post it there. Then grab the SoundCloud link and reply here with the link pasted in your reply. **If possible, make your track public - that way I can make a playlist up. Since we may run into copyright issues with covers, if Soundcloud doesn't work, please use the attachements feature to upload your mp3 to the forum.

🏅Prizes: None this month, just the ever increasing infamy of winning a GuitarTalk Challenge! But wait....there's more - you even get the doubly dubious distinction of selecting the next challenge topic. If you ask for more, welllll...you will recieve, your winning entry will also feature in the annual GuitarTalk playlist - wow-wee! :crying:

Anyone can enter this competition. You just need a guitar and a phone. But any other recording equipment is fine too. Collaborations with fellow members or anyone you can recruit is encouraged!

Good luck and beeg enjoy to all the entrants!

Hey guys, how's it going?
I've something ready... At first I thought of distorting my pipes to make it even more icepicky... 🤣
But I decided to restrict distortion to the guitar 😃
I recorded pipes and guitar (2 channels each) and added synthetic bass, drums and a little choir to make it a bit epic 😅

I threw an entry together for this.

Some wins on this one, and some losses. The win, a big one in my book, my first take at programming my own drums. Are they perfect? No, but the learning curve was a massive plus for me, hopefully this unblocks a lot of stuff going forward.
The loss, I am at a complete block for lead playing. Find myself in such a small box that it is frustrating and discouraging all at once.

That said, no dwelling on it, here is the entry warts and all. I lost patience with trying to clean it up. Enjoy!

My opportunity to deliver a solid icepicking. Started in the morning and had a couple sessions during the day. No time to mix (sadly) or add any leads (thankfully).

Used the Distortion factory pedal (Metal Zone) into two tracks, one direct and one with IR's. The pedal's onboard cab sim is actually quite good compared to the IR's - but I used the IR's - didn't have time/patience to re-track guitars. There's a track of bass that adds back some of the mids that I scooped out the guits 😏

Cool. V8
Fyi, there is also an entry on the Discord channel from SydV
