Hey Folks,
I need some advice picking out a looper pedal. The Internet is full of advice for pedals that we can't buy here in SA such as "10 best looper pedals in 2022" and so on.
I like the idea of having two switches - seems like double tapping will be too much for my co-ords - playing Guitar is hard enough.
My Budget R3k-ish - I want one to progress from noodling on pentatonics to layering my pentatonic noodling 🙈.

I've read that the Electro-Harmonix 720 is really finiky to get a good loop - people on the Internet complain of latency or that the switch latches on release and it takes getting used to. The half speed and reverse functions look really gimmicky. The other option is the Boss RC1 with a separate foot switch. I've read that the a/d/a conversion isn't great? Then there's TC Electronic's ditto looper - that only has one switch though. Any other noteworthy options - I'm all ears 🙏

dono Another option to consider is something that has drum rhythms built-in. And if it does come with drums, make sure that the demo's show it syncing with the looper (some don't - like certain Zoom multifx). I hear the Nux looper is pretty decent at that.

Two switch options...I'l l have to google a bit. Though the Boss RC20/30 etc... are good options. While the boss range arn't the greatest sound quality, how is that actually gonna affect you? It's easy to get up in a paper comparison of gear when shopping, but in reality, it's usually not a issue.

I've used a RC1/3, ditto (mini & xl), Zoom multifx, hardwire delay/ looper and a couple of the cheap knockoff's - I don't have a favourite - yet. Though I would definitely have one that sync'ed with the drum /rhythm section - that's my #1 want on a looper.

And do spend some time using the looper before deciding it's junk - the most common issue is that peeps don't have the patience to work on their rhythm chops and just blame the hardware.

dono I own an BOSS RC-5 with an external footswitch BOSS FS-6 and am very happy with the setup. The quality is more than good enough for my needs and the built drums have really helped with my timing as a player. I am however a hobbyist and not a professional musician.

They really do, something bassists take for granted - rhythm skills!
