I imagine summer rather than winter if it's it a cold, rainy wet area, for the sake of the electrical equipment, as well as the peeps. After a cold, wet Saturday night of drinking, smoking, singing, braaing etc. I've found myself unable to make it to work on Monday mornings on more than one occasion in the past. :-[

I'd be up for a package deal iro of a central venue for everyone (as opposed to decentralised meets in every centre). Bloem as a halfway house sounds good, particularly with the type of facilities already described. We'd need someone with BluesAddicts transport connections (for the northern guys) to orgnaise a party bus for the Capetonians!

If I can throw my hat in here real quick.
I live in Bloem and while Bloem itself has some ok places, the best parts of the free state is there in Ladybrand/Clarence side. Clarence is relatively expensive but a GREAT venue. There are a couple of small towns in the FS that I think can work. If you guys are set on Bloem though, I'd suggest going maybe one of the (well the only one) Aventura resorts. Very cheap, very popular and close to the city.
Oh, and I'd definately like to hook up and steal , learn some licks ?

But the Aventura resort has bangaloos (or however its spelled), I'll check if I can find some prices. But the way I have it, its reasonable priced.

Aventura is always cool, not sure if all oaks on holiday will enjoy 20 or 30 guitarists making a m@er of a noise 24/7. I still think, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, where we can have the place to ourselves. But I'm in either way.. Oh yeah, with a save place to lock up the gear, so prefferably someplace with chalets :dance:

Okay, I've put my vote in, I say "yes". I like the 6 months from now-2 year GFSA birthday idea, also gives time to plan, save up, put leave in etc. I also like the one central venue idea. Just worried that Bloem area is still quite a trek for the Capetonians to drive up to, don't know if there is a place a little more midway? But if you guys don't mind then go for it ?

I just visited bloem a week ago and the plane tickets for me and my gal was R3500.
I just got struck by lightning! I might be able to get the wellington bus for that weekend ?
