Yeti That's true...

I do have access to a violin bow... could done some of that guitar violin playing xD

    Now for the next installment.

I need to learn how to program drums properly.. It's always the thing that keep me from wanting to record xD

So for this month I'll try and leave my comfort zone by doing a song with a proper drum track. Still deciding on what though.

      Hi Everyone,

I've decide to cover Blue Eyes - Springbok Nude Girls.
Can anyone help with the guitar part?

I've been trying to get a good/similar distortion sound via plugins but it just doesn't seem right.

      Hey RCVN.

What sort of help you looking at? Playing or the the distortion? What plugins are you using? I dont know how to play the song but i could try learn it.

For the distortion.. it sounds more like a mildly driven overdrive. Something vox/ marshall'ish with a bit of gain. I think Theo liked tele's.. so likely a single coil bridge as well which also takes the edge off the drive sound

      Hey man,

After playing around a bit, I think I'm winning.

Played around with the tone a bit with your suggestions in mind. I can't for the life of me remember the name of plugin I found. Will update when I'm back at my home pc.

      Thanks!

        Hi Guys,
        Did a draft backtrack..

Still need to do the vocals but would appreciate feedback on what I could add/do differently to what I have so far.

RCVN Sounding really good. Only criticism I have at this stage is that there were some timing issues on the guitar in the middle, other that it's really good.
Out of interest, how did you do the drums?

          Yeti Thanks,

I used the MT Power Drum Kit VST with its built in compression and some light distortion. Still want to play around with it a bit, maybe ad a fill/add a cymbal at some parts and maybe some reverb. I programmed it with a Korg Nanokey 2 in Reaper.

Its a really decent vst. I also use that.
Recently started using groove agent as well. So I toggle between the 2. I use MT when i am looking for more generic drum patterns. Groove agent has some good heavy rock patterns that i enjoy.

I liked the overall clarity of back track. Reminds me that I need to increase the vol on my drum tracks. I always seem to mix them softer.

I’ve sorta been sticking to a cover a month for the last few months.
