Recently, on the GT whatsapp group @wern101 posted a video of a $200 valve amp - oddly enough I was busy watching through the same video at the same time!
I did a quick bit of reading on the two valve amp offerings (5w & 15W)) and watched some more video's. Overall, the reviews were surprisingly positive. (Personally, I'd still have a katana...but I havn't played these amps and I'm a sucker for multifx)

The Monoprice 5 Watt is closely based on the Laney Cub 8, the Monoprice 15 Watt is based very closely on the Laney Cub 12. Whoever Monoprice are using, it's likely the same OEM as Laney. Same schematic, same Ventech transformers that Laney have been using for years.

And "Uncle Doug" takes apart a 5W one (cool to see inside...but too many dad jokes)
I'm sure a few will show up locally - peeps doing aliexpress/ebay personal imports.
To me the 5W sounds boxy like a Champ 600 - there's only so much you can do with a 8in speaker in a little box. The 15W could be a better bet - nice specs with fx loop & ext speaker out. Though I'm wary without a local distributor...I'd still have a 2nd hand laney cub or katana
